Textured Wabi-Sabi Distressed Gold Relief Painting – EV#0512
Description
Product Overview
Bring an aura of quiet antiquity and tactile luxury to your walls with this original hand-painted vertical 3D relief canvas by Eliot Vermeer. Set against a heavily sculpted, mineral-rich plaster background in warm chalk white and stone grey, the artwork features architectural columns of raised linear bars accented with distressed, weathered gold leaf. Using mixed-media plaster and impasto carving techniques, the deliberately aged, peeled metallic surfaces and raw, uneven edges capture shifting ambient light, creating depth, organic drama, and refined wabi-sabi sophistication.
The Story Behind the Art
Artist Eliot Vermeer drew inspiration from ancient Mediterranean frescoes, weathered stone temple walls, and gilded artifacts gently eroded by wind and time. By allowing the gold leaf to appear worn, fragmented, and partially concealed beneath rough plaster layers, Eliot reflects on the poetic impermanence of material beauty. Embracing the core philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, this piece celebrates decay, patina, and raw craftsmanship—inviting mindful contemplation and grounding energy into the modern home.
