"The Snoopy That Stayed" — A Pop Art Memory for the Grown-Up Soul

This painting began with a small discovery: my childhood Snoopy plush, tucked away in a box of old yearbooks, one ear frayed, its fur worn soft by years of affection. For a long time, I thought growing up meant outgrowing—folding away cartoon posters, quieting the parts of myself that felt too tender, too nostalgic.

But holding that plush again, I understood something deeper: the world doesn't ask us to abandon our softness. It asks us to carry it—even when it's a little frayed, a little worn, a little imperfect.

So I painted Snoopy with the same loose, joyful lines I loved in the comics as a kid, but I placed him against a background built from thick, scraped layers of paint—colors like worn apartment walls, late-night smudges, the raw texture of becoming. This isn't a simple cartoon. It's a portrait of softness that persists: a gentle, grinning anchor in a world that's often abrasive, a reminder that what we cherish from our past doesn't just stay—it holds us.

In a culture that often tells us to toughen up, smooth over, grow out of, this painting is a quiet celebration of the tender things we choose to keep.
